March is National Nutrition Month® an annual campaign put on by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. This year's theme, Celebrate a World of Flavors, wants to embrace global cultures, cuisines and inclusion, while also showcasing the skills of registered dietitians. During the weeks of March, there are messages to takeaway while incorporating your favorite cultural foods and traditions:
● Eat a variety of nutritious foods: Include healthful foods from all food groups, try making your plate colorful and include different shapes and textures! Try making half your plate fruits and vegetables, ¼ grains, and ¼ protein.
● Plan your meals and snacks: Try planning the meals you want to make at the beginning of the week and use a grocery list to shop at the store. By planning what you want to shop for you are more likely to make nutritious choices.
● Create tasty foods at home: Try cooking more meals at home and try to enjoy meals at home with your friends and family.
● See a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN): RDN’s can help you reach your health goals by giving you personalized nutrition information and support on your journey. At Cornerstone Nutrition and Diabetes, you can trust the registered dietitian nutritionists will help you create a meal plan unique to you!
